1.4529 Stainless Steel |UNSN08367|X1NiCrMoCuN25-20-7|00Cr25Ni22Mo7N

1.4529 / Al-6XN® is a super-austenitic stainless steel, similar to 1.4539 /AISI 904 L, but with higher molybdenum and nitrogen content.Extremely high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in halide media. Excellent general corrosion resistance in a wide range of media, both oxidizing and reducing. Improved mechanical properties over AISI 904 L.

Hot Forming

The material is hot formed within a temperature range of 1200 to 900 °C and then quenched rapidly in water or air.The annealing takes place at 1200 ° C.After hot forming, heat treatment for optimum corrosion resistance is recommended.

Cold Forming

AL-6XN presents good cold formability and it can be bent, or shaped at room temperature. However, due to the high strength, more force will be required in comparison to conventional stainless steels. Proper tools and equipment should be used to avoid cracking or stress.

Forging

Hot forging of AL-6XN is done by using standard forging methods. It can heat uniformly to its optimum temperature range (typically about 1200°C to 950°C) and then be forged. After forging, it needs to be quickly cooled to maintain corrosion resistance.

Applications

1.4529 is suitable for the fabrication of many products such as flanges, valves, bolting, pump shafts, offshore plant, heat exchangers, storage tanks, paper and pulping bleach equipment, oil & gas production, rural applications, many products used in chemical processes, sterilizing solutions, and parts working in corrosive environments where type 316 grades and AN4 do not provide a sufficient corrosion resistance. In particular, this grade, offering a very good resistance in sea water, is widely used in naval applications.
